Welcome

Welcome to the Mid-Antrim Museums Service.

This regional service comprises four museums that together reveal much about mid-Antrim and its people.

This part of north east Ulster has a distinctive history and identity that has been strongly influenced by its proximity to Scotland and the 19th century industrial development of nearby Belfast. Its rich cultural diversity is reflected in the collections held by the museums in Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey. These modern museums explore a range of subjects from social and industrial history to war and conflict. They also provide a lively and ever changing programme of temporary exhibitions and special events.

We welcome your views on the museums service and our website!

Well done and congratulations to all the staff at Ballymena on the opening of the new museum. Good luck for the future.

Hi William! I've been looking at your website and I'm DEEPLY impressed by what you've all achieved. I MUST come over and look. I see, btw, it's 13 years since I did the study proposing setting up a mid-Antrim Museums Service! All good wishes,

Crispin
