ArtFund Prize preparation

Preparations in advance of the ArtFund Prize judging visit are in full swing! We're arranged full day and hopefully the judges will think it's as exciting and interesting and we do! We hope especially that they'll like all of the input that the community has had in the day's development.

On that note, Caroline (from Arts) and I will be back in the Fairhill Centre at lunchtime today to get some more 'man on the spot' interviews for the film, so please find us and share your thoughts on The Braid for the handycam! If you miss us in the mall, feel free to stop by the museum and we'll come down and film your 'vox pop' then and there.

Fingers crossed!

Mid-Antrim Museum Trip to Armagh

On Saturday 7th March Mid-Antrim Museum orgainsed a very enjoyable trip to Armagh City.

We have a lovely lunch at Armagh City Hotel. Both Cathedrals were magnificent, filled with history and tradition. Barbara Ferguson, our local guide, was excellent, so knowledgeable about the Cathedrals and the city, easy to understand and friendly. Everyone went home with good memories and looking forward to the next day trip to be organised by the museum.

Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries

In February, the Mid-Antrim Museum at The Braid made the long list of museums considered for the 2009 Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries. Everyone at The Braid is very excited to be part of the achievement - this is the first time in the hi
story of the Art Fund Prize that a museum in Northern Ireland has made the long list.

The £100,000 prize will be announced in June and everyone can help The Braid to win by visiting the Art Fund Prize website and tellling them what you think of The Braid.

We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of the juding panel in April and we've organised a series of exciting events to celebrate this achievement. It's all happening on Love Your Museum Day, Saturday 4 April between 10am and 4pm. For more information about the day's activities, visit The Mid-Antrim Museum website. The programme includes face-painting, live music and special tours.
